ALWAYS USE THE SAME ROUTE TO THE OUTSIDE, SO YOU DO NOT CONFUSE THE PUPPY.
ALWAYS TAKE HIM/HER TO THE SAME
SPOT EACH TIME. TRY TO LEAVE SOME FRESH STOOL THERE FOR WHEN HE/SHE SMELLS IT HE/SHE WILL GO THERE. (I DON'T MEAN NEVER PICK
UP YOUR YARD, PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN.)
HAVE A COOKIE JAR/CAN SOMEWHERE CLOSE BY THE AREA, AFTER HE/SHE GOES GIVE HIM/HER
A LOT OF PRAISE AND A COOKIE, TELL HIM/HER WHAT A GOOD PUPPY THEY ARE.
WHEN A MESS HAPPENS TAKE THE PUP BACK TO THE AREA
(NO MATTER IF IT’S SEVERAL HOURS OLD) WITH ONE HAND PICK UP THE MESS, WITH THE OTHER HAND PICK UP THE PUPPY. TELL THE PUPPY
“HOW DARE YOU GO IN OUR HOUSE, YOU ARE A BAD DOG.) THEN TAKE BOTH OUTSIDE TO THE SPOT PUT THE MESS DOWN. TELL
HIM/HER (THIS IS WHERE YOU GO NOT IN THE HOUSE) THEN PUT HIM/HER DOWN. IF HE/SHE GOES AGAIN PRAISE HIM/HER AND GIVE
THEM A COOKIE. IF HE DOES NOT GO O-WELL HE/SHE SOON WILL.
PLAN YOUR YARD NOW, DON'T TAKE THE PUP TO THAT AREA OF THE YARD WHERE YOU ARE PLANNING SOME GARDENING IN THE FUTURE. YOU NEED TO FIND A SPOT THAT WILL AL
REMEMBER THE YOUNGER THE PUPPY THE
MORE HE/SHE HAS TO GO. ALSO THE YOUNGER THE PUPPY HE/SHE WILL NOT UNDERSTAND HOW OR WHEN TO HOLD IT. ALL HE/SHE DOES KNOW
IS THAT HE/SHE HAS TO GO! HE/SHE MAY OR MAY NOT LOOK FOR THE PAPER. IF PAPER IS 3-5 FEET IN FRONT OF HIM/HER, HE/SHE WILL
NOT CHECK TO SEE IF HE/SHE IS OVER THE PAPER. BE PREPARED.
WHENEVER THE PUPPY AWAKES FROM HIS/HER NAP, EAT, DRINKS,
OR DOES THE WAS DANCE (SNIFFING AND CIRCLING) STOP! STOP! WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING AND TAKE THE PUP OUTSIDE, HE/SHE HAS TO GO!
